In July 2023, the European Commission published a draft concept paper for proposed candidate partnerships under the second Horizon Europe Strategic Plan, including one on advanced materials, “Innovative Materials for EU (I’M FOR EU)”. The candidate partnership is currently at a proposal stage and will only be confirmed with the adoption of the Horizon Europe Strategic Plan 25-27 in Q1 2024. A formal decision on the launch of the European Partnership and its type (co-programmed or co-funded) is, however, expected by early January 2024.
The partnership proposal is fully supported by the Graphene Flagship/2D Materials community and by the Advanced Materials 2030 Initiative. Both initiatives are working together to draft a detailed partnership proposal and a first version of the SRIA through a common writing team.
To start the work on the SRIA, AMI2030 organised a kick-off event on September 21, 2023, followed by a series of online workshops conducted during October to further discuss the different R&I areas and associated priorities. To complement the meeting, several surveys were launched to collect our stakeholders’ input to the SRIA of the IM4EU partnership.
All the feedback collected is now being consolidated into a single SRIA document. A first version is expected to be shared with the European Commission by the end of 2023.
In parallel, the AMI2030 Core Team is working on the appropriate structure and governance of the association to represent the future partnership’s private side.
A public consultation on the draft partnership proposal and the related draft SRIA should be conducted in the spring of 2024. Stay tuned for further details!
